How to Start a relationship with God

How to Start A Relationship With God

God Loves You and Has a Plan For Your Life...
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life - John 3:1

    Sin Separates You From God...
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one - Romans 3:10. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23.

God's Remedy For All Of Your Sins...
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again, the third day according to the scriptures - 1 Corinthians 15:3-5. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord - Romans 6:23. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me - John 14:6.

    You Can be Saved...
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to Him - Revelation 3:20. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved - Romans 10:13.

You Can Receive Eternal Life Now...
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved - Romans 10:9. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast - Ephesians 2:8-9.

Your Decision to Receive Christ as Your Savior...
I confess to God that I am a sinner. I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead on the third day so that I could be saved and have eternal life. I do now receive and confess Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.

    Keys to Walking with God

Keys to Your Relationship with God

What do I do now that I have given my life to Jesus?

Jesus died for your sins. If you have asked Him to forgive you of your sins, according to His word, he has.  Romans 5:8 -  “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.

As a new Christian there are some important things to remember and to do!

    Remember

What happened when you prayed was something that God did. Ephesians 5:8-9 “For it is by grace that you are saved, and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast”.  God wants to have a relationship with you. God does not want you to have just some sort of “religious experience”. He wants you to know Him. He wants you to understand who He is. His desire is that you continually seek to know Him and to build that relationship every day, for the rest of your life and into eternity.

    How do I do this?

There are several ways in which you can learn about God and grow in your relationship with Him.

Pray - Talk to God. Tell Him about the good things and the bad. The wonderful thing about knowing God is that He is always there for you. Hebrews 13:5 says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. You can talk to Him about anything! At anytime! Anywhere!

Read Gods Word - The Bible is Gods revelation to His children of what He is like, and as believers our hearts are strengthened and transformed by the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 - “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” Colossians 3:16 - “Let the word of God dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord”.

Fellowship with other believers - Hebrews 10:25 - “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together....”  Especially as new Christians, it is important to be around those who are also walking in a relationship with God. Get involved in bible studies and go to church services that preach and teach the full bible message.  Be encouraged by placing yourself around other believers who have been in a relationship with God and have experienced His blessings and direction in their lives. They can help you understand how to grow closer to God, learn more about Him, and what it means to live for God and to follow His word.

    Your New Identity

The Bible is very clear in showing that as we come to Christ we become a new creation. It says that the old is passed away and all things have become new. You are a new person. Every past failure, every past sin, everything that we as humans have managed to mess up is buried in the ocean of forgiveness. We can walk in a newness of life.
